Join us at the beautiful W Hotel on Thursday, May 24th as we celebrate our 10th year anniversary of the Emerge California program.

Special keynote address by the once and future Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi and honoring our 2012 Woman of the Year, Quinn Delaney, Founder and President of the Akonadi Foundation.

Thursday, May 24th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at The W Hotel in San Francisco.  General and VIP Receptions from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Program begins at 7:35pm.

Claudia Burgos

A native of Santa Barbara, California; Claudia has lived in the Bay Area for the past 13 years.  In 2001, she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a double bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies and Social Welfare.  As a Berkeley student, Claudia was actively involved in a number of student organizations focused on increasing the recruitment and retention of Latino students to the UC Berkeley campus. 

After graduating from Berkeley, she worked at STAND Against Domestic Violence serving domestic violence victims throughout Contra Costa County.  She worked with the Richmond Police Department in their family services division as an advocate for domestic violence victims where she helped strengthen the department’s policies and responses to domestic violence incidents. 

In 2004, Claudia joined the staff of Councilmember Jean Quan where she served as a policy analyst and constituent liaison.  With an emphasis on public safety policy development, she helped craft policy to address the issue of Sexual Exploitation of Minors, worked to secure funding for domestic violence services, and helped craft legislation to fund additional police officers and violence prevention and intervention programs for the City of Oakland.

Currently, Claudia serves as Chief of Staff to Councilmember Ignacio De La Fuente in the City of Oakland.  She manages policy development and constituent services in Oakland Fruitvale and Glenview neighborhoods.  Prior to working in local government, Claudia worked with parents and students at the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse were she led intervention and education sessions for students and parents. 

In her spare time Claudia enjoys spending quality time with her husband Oracio and three-year old son Xared.  She enjoys family hikes, snowboarding, and visiting her family in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
